Statement from Honor the Gift on the Savings Estimate Conducted by the Congressional Budget Office (H.R. 5535/S. 3353)

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has conducted its official analysis and has projected that the Comprehensive Immunosuppressive Drug Coverage for Kidney Transplant Patients Act (H.R. 5534/S. 3353) will result in significant savings to Medicare over the next 10 years. Today’s news from the CBO marks another significant milestone for kidney transplant recipients, their donors, and the entire kidney and transplant community; confirming what many of us have known for nearly two decades.

The Immuno Bill is a bi-partisan, non-controversial bill that both saves lives and money. Between this latest update from the CBO and the bipartisan support we’ve already received in Congress, we believe there is now a clear path for passage.

Everyone loses when a kidney transplant fails due to a lack of access to immunosuppressive medications. Congress, it’s time to protect kidney recipients and honor the gift of kidney donation. Let’s make sure the Immuno Bill lands on the President’s desk this year!

Advocates can contact Congress and express their support for the Immuno Bill by visiting the Honor the Gift website and utilizing our digital advocacy tool.
